Drunken Dragon Winery: Wines for the Adventurous
Saturday, September 2nd 2017

Found the list of (hand-written) notes on what my business plan needs that I received when I met with someone from CBDC Bluewater. I'll drop it here:

  • Reach out to:
    • Business Navigators
    • Acadia University: Wine Institute
      • Market info
    • DEANS
      • Marketing
    • NSBI
      • market at large?
    • Farm Works
  • Market Research: Competitors
    • Muwin
    • Fieldstone
    • Domain de Grand Pre
    • Lucketts
  • Detailed equipment list
  • Raw material
    • Source & cost
  • Staff - Skills
    • all areas of business
  • Branding
    • Art
    • Webpage
  • Proposed floor plan
  • Sales strategy
  • Business mentoring & networking

I may have put that list there, but in the interest of still being able to find it easily in the future and to have all such notes in one place, I alsp made a Things to Add page. And then decided to also add a page for one of those items: Artwork. Sure, they're a bit rough and preliminary, but it's a start. It's enough to get the idea of where I want to go with my labels.

I added a wine-making section. It's just my recipes for now (well, ingredient lists), I plan to add a section about ingredients and an explanation of how to make the wine later.

I need to seriously get back at my business plan soon. I would like to have funding by Christmas so I can be ready to start brewing by April 1. Four months sounds like a long time, but I've already learned it really isn't when it comes to this stuff. So I give myself the weekend to finish getting organized, then it's back to work!

So now I've listed the information both Futurpreneur and CBDC are looking for in a Business Plan. Next will be to do the same for CEED, followed by the information I've gathered since submitting my existing Business Plan. I'm sitting between two piles of paper containing a lot of my work, and have a folder of files on this computer. A lot of it is repetitive or older drafts. I will have some sorting to do.

I did my second round to add detail to the Futurpreneur business plan template.

I started outlining the Business Plan Template I used. Another round to add more detail on what is supposed to go in each subsection will have to happen, and then I will move on to the other two templates I've been given. Between all three I should be able to at least figure out what is just plain missing from my plan.

So I did what I had planned to take 23 days to do in one. I guess it was easier than I thought. Now what do I set my goal for? Determining what I'm missing? See, the problem I have with writing this business plan is that it means finding information I don't understand and compiling it in a format that doesn't feel natural. My business plan is supposed to have enough detail that someone who reads it can understand how the business will run, but I don't understand half of what it says anyway.

Since I could finally afford it again, I reactivated my web-hosting service account. Now instead of trying to mock up a business website on my desktop, I can put it here where I can see if it actually works!

I decided to convert my existing business plan into part of this website. So the menu now reflects that. My goal is to spread the process out over twenty-three days, but I have a feeling it will take less than two weeks as some sections are rather small. Maybe by the end of September I will actually have the business plan ready to apply for funding again.

Tuesday, April 4th 2017

I'm back at building websites again! I'm not sure how well this one is going, but it's going.

Okay, so I've made a background that tiles, and put a banner across the top. Got rid of the menu down the side since it was redundant and ugly. Adjusted the background colour. I'll have to come up with some other pages.

This would be a bit easier if I could afford to pay for hosting already. Then I could use the virtual include I got used to to keep the header the exact same on every page while only having one place to edit for them all. That and I could check it on other devices if it was up and running. I guess I'll just have to wait until I get my funding. It's not like I'll be able to start the business without the funding anyway.

As to what to put in the rest of the pages ... I could just fill it out with pretty much everything I'm including in my business plan/written proposal. A bit ridiculous, I suppose, but it could work. Maybe I should get on that instead of babbling here?
